Store Credit?

Is there a good way to set up store credit for someone? Would that be in the Coupons area or is there a better way?

Your suggestion of using the Coupons area is a valid solution.

There is no built-in "Issue Store Credit" feature.

Another method to consider would be to offer a Gift Certificate. For example, you could:

1. Make a Product with a price equal to the amount of store credit you would like to issue. Designate that product as a Gift Certificate (on the "Misc" tab of the Edit Products form).

2. Make yourself a Coupon for 100% off. Use the Coupon to buy the Gift Certificate. Note the Gift Certificate number that appears on the order receipt email.
Note: For this to work, you need to enter a value of "0" for the "Order's Min Amount (US$)" on the "Orders" tab of the "Per User" screen (located within the "Settings" tab).

I suggest deleting the "100% off" Coupon at this point.

3. Send the Gift Certificate number to the customer which you would like to issue store credit to.

Now, the Customer will be able to shop in your store and enter the Gift Certificate number on checkout. They may also use the "Check Gift Card" balance function (available from the "My Choices" select box on the upper right of your checkout pages).
