We generate .htaccess because of some logic we implemented to take care of generated pages that have changed their names. When customers try to load the old pages then we show them the latest generated ones.
You need to take the content of your .htaccess and create it as a custom page with action "Only Page without Template" _________________ Stanimir Stanev (Stanley)

Do we need to give the page a certain name ?
Just asking because we do have a redirect from our non www version to our www version in order to avoid duplicate content..

If you are talking about the .htaccess then you have to give it the same name .htaccess with content whatever the content of your current .htaccess file _________________ Stanimir Stanev (Stanley)

I have a .htaccess custom page with data in it.
Do you write to the same file? At the begining or at the end?
I would like to see the entries you create. |

We append to it the "ErrorDocument 404 ..." entry with our own handler to resolve requested page names that have been changed. _________________ Stanimir Stanev (Stanley)

If you host your website with us then you can ask for an FTP access and view the content of that file. I am not very familiar what is the procedure, so you better talk to your SF representative. _________________ Stanimir Stanev (Stanley)

ok, im not really sure what the htaccess file really does other than change the name of the website. but now when i make any changes and generate (i was hoping to pretty much start over with a new page) there are no changes to it. the only change that is noticeable is that the name has changed to the new site. if i delete this htaccess file i have a feeling our name will go back to normal too. why is changing stores such a weird and complicated process. would it be much easier if i had ftp access?
ive had many emails sent out, phone calls, and other forum posts. this is kind of important since i cant do anything at all to the website now, let alone get started on a new one. |

Hi,
I am not sure why you have all these problems trying to change a store.
I asked Ed from SearchFit to look at your case.
Thanks,

| thanks, but i got in touch with one of your tech guys there, and after us asking each other questions, we came to the conclusion that all of the old files on the server needed to be cleared out. after doing that, and using the old path, i can now update the site. |
