Hi,
Try to set up some split testing with GWO but running against a small problem here. We need to define the goal url on the site. In Google analytics it's reported as /step4.html.
However when entering this into GWO it doesn't find this page of course. Is there any way to fix the problem or will it work fine with /step4.html even if GWO is telling you he didn't find the url ?
thxs!

Hi,
Yeps but this is for installing Google analytics on your site (which is already done and working ).
My question was how to configure the thankyou page for Google Website Optimizer since the /step4.htm can't be found. so I'm not sure if it will work correctly..

Sorry about that. I don't have experience with website optimizer but if its any help step 4 isn't even used in my analytics. I have step 1 & 2 as the funnel and 3 as the goal.
edit:
I should mention that with step 3 as the goal all my e-commerce tracking works perfectly. I don't think step 4 is used.

Unfortunately, I have no experience setting up Google Website Optimizer.
After some brief research, here is what I suggest:
For your "conversion page value", just enter some made-up, but descriptive page name (ex = "step4.htm"). It doesn't affect the tracking.
I found the answer here:
http://www.google.com/support/websiteoptimizer/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=69247
As follows:
| Quote: |
| If you are not able to provide a conversion page that our servers can access, you can enter a URL for descriptive purposes during the experiment set-up. This will not affect which page we track during the experiment; the page that you place the conversion code on will ultimately be the page that we track. As you later add the experiment tags to your pages, we will allow you to upload your page's source code so you can validate and preview the tags. |

Americover:
Step 3 of your checkout process (for credit card payment methods) is a confirmation page where customers view an order summary and click the "finalize order" button.
Step 4 of your checkout process is the "Thanks Page" that states the order number.
So, if a customer goes to step 3 and does not click the "Finalize Order" button, then you should get a false goal conversion in Google Analytics. |

Ed,
Google doesn't pick up any e-commerce data off the /step4.html. In fact it wasn't picking up any conversion data at all. Not sure why. |

Thanks for the feedback.
If you visit your Google Analytics Control Panel, is there an "Ecommerce Reports" link in the left vertical nav?
If you click the "Ecommerce Reports" link, does the screen show any data?
I would like to get it working for you. |

Ed,
With Step 3 as the Goal my Searchfit order data and Google Analytics Data match up perfectly (maybe I have a 100% conversion rate?). So everything is working fine on my end. |
