Is there any way to add a custom field into step 2 of the checkout (where they fill in their contact details, etc) to create a pasword for an account.
Lot of people hate it when they start to check out and they need to create an account but once they're busy and they only see that they need to fill in a pasword (after filling in their shipping details), it makes things more easy in their eyes..

There is a Per User setting that may be what you are looking for:
1. Go to the "Per User" screen (located under the "Settings" tab).
2. Click the "Orders" tab.
3. Choose "Yes" for the setting "Show Login/Register/Continue Page"
4. Click the "Update" button.
There is no need to Generate.
Now, customers will arrive at a new, second step of the checkout process where they may "Login", "Register" or "Continue Without Logging in" |

Thxs Ed...but I was looking for a solution without adding an extra page in the checkout process.. Is there any way to make an account (user+pasword) in the backoffice for clients who didn't register ? So the only think we would need to do is send that client his username and pasw. after we received his order..

You can make accounts as you wish using the "Members" screen (located under the "Marketing" tab).
You could add a "Custom Field" to the existing step 2 of the checkout process using the "Custom Fields" screen: http://www.searchfit.us.com/help/#hlp_checkout_fields.html |

The new SearchFit help system is nearly complete.
We are planning to offer context-sensitive help in an upcoming release. This means that when you open the new help system, it will automatically show the help related to whatever page you are on in the SearchFit Control Panel.
A FireFox plugin named "FireBug" has a bug that causes the SearchFit Help table of contents, search and index to disappear. Disabling FireBug fixes the problem.
Please let me know if you spot anything else that's not fully working. |

Are these the steps you took to diable FireBug? (this worked for me)
• From the FireFox Browser Window menu bar, click the “Tools” link.
• Choose Addons. A popup window will appear.
• Click the “Extensions” tab.
• Click the “Disable” button located next to the “FireBug” option.
• Follow the prompts to restart FireFox.
Are you using FireFox 3? |
